Managing a Firewall > Managing network traffic > Setting network traffic filters

Setting network traffic filters
Normally, you should keep traffic filtering turned on, so the firewall can monitor traffic for potentially unsafe activity. However, you can also change the Network Traffic setting to allow all traffic through the filters (offers no protection) or block all traffic (shuts down communications).
To manage traffic handling:
1.
Access the traffic options from the Home panel or from the Firewall icon’s Main tab.
The following example shows the Firewall icon’s main tab.
2.
Click the down arrow to display all the options, then click the desired setting (described in the following table).

Network Traffic Handling
Filtering Traffic
Turns on the firewall. Filters incoming and outgoing traffic, so that the firewall guards against intrusion attempts while you connect to the Internet or to another network.
Block All traffic
Blocks all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic. Use this setting if you have a broadband connection and need to leave the computer unattended.
Allow All traffic
Turns off the firewall. Allows all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic. Provides no protection.
